Pssst, have a moment to share?

If you have captured images of celebrations or special moments in your life, then perhaps you can consider sharing them, notably on Baume & Mercier’s official Facebook and Twitter pages or Instagram as part of the brand’s social media contest.

Open from 7 April 2014 to 5 May 2014, participants of the contest are also encouraged to tell the story behind their submitted images and / or videos.

(Use hashtag #celebratemoments on Instagram or Twitter to share your images and / or videos).

What themed images and / or videos should one submit?

Here’s a hint: be inspired by Baume & Mercier’s tagline which is “Life is about moments” and your life’s celebratory events.

We will also recommend thinking about famed photographer Peter Lindbergh’s comment that: “Photographs are truly magical… when they capture moments that cannot be seen with one’s eyes to be captured.”

Alternatively, you may wish to focus on the ladies celebrating their moments as Lindbergh’s more recent book is entitled: “Images of Women”.

The best entry will receive a Baume & Mercier Clifton automatic watch (ref. 10052) valued at CHF2,500 (Swiss francs) and an autographed copy of Lindbergh’s limited edition book: “Images of Women”.

This Baume & Mercier Clifton wristwatch (ref. 10052) will be awarded to the winner of the brand’s social media contest which runs from 7 April 2014 to 5 May 2014. Photo: © Baume & Mercier

The Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph Ref. 5990/1A in stainless steel launched at the 2014 BaselWorld watch fair adds another complicated timepiece to Patek Philippe’s Nautilus line.

Moreover, the Ref. 5990/1A replaces the Nautilus Chronograph Ref. 5980/1A in steel. In other words, the Ref. 5980/1A which first made its debut in 2006 will be discontinued.

However, this does not mean the end of the Ref. 5980; the Ref. 5980R-001 in rose gold with a leather strap, Ref. 5980/1AR in steel and rose gold and the Ref. 5980/1R in rose gold with a rose gold bracelet will remain in the Nautilus collection.

What is noteworthy of the Ref. 5990/1A is what it packs: the chronograph and the second time zone display. The luminescent hour hand is used for displaying local time (the time of the current location) while the skeletonised hour hand is for home time (the time at home or where the owner originated from).

Day and night displays are also included for both local and home time through apertures at the nine and three o’clock positions respectively.

When one is not travelling, both the local and home time hour hands can be ‘joined’ to move as one.

Housed in the 40.5mm Nautilus stainless steel case which is water-resistant to 120 metres is the Calibre CH 28-520 C FUS which has between 45 hours and 55 hours of power reserve after being fully-wound.

Patek Philippe’s Ref. 5990/1A offers collectors, especially those who travel often, two highly useful functions with features that are well thought-through.

The Ref. 5990/1A is priced at around CHF47,000 / US$53,000 / SGD66,000 (Singapore dollars).
